You should NEVER use ChatGPT (and other AI generative service) to write any of your class reports or manuscripts (for journal publication). UB now considers the unauthorized use of AI service as "falsifying academic materials", and such behavior will be charged with an academic integrity violation. You can read more university policies and about generative AI here:

ChatGPT (and other AI) often generates wrong and misleading information – the so-called "hallucination" of generative AI. This is basically due to the statistical nature of the GPT model. Now you are in a computational group, you should know better how ChatGPT works, what their pros and cons are, than your peers in experimental groups. I encourage all of you to learn more about ChatGPT by reading some articles and watching some YouTube videos. This will help your career in the long run.
You may use ChatGPT (or other AI, such as GitHub co-pilot) for your research to help you solve the problem or brainstorm new research ideas. But again, you should always keep in mind that AI can generate misleading and wrong information. To avoid these AI "hallucinations", Google search and your critical thinking are always your best friends 🙂
This is a new challenge that everyone is facing now, and floor is open to more discussions on this topic. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
